So I leave this weekend for the Arizona auctions, any requests for cars to be looked at or photographed?
I will have updates beginning Wednesday of next week with prices and pictures.

I'm curious to hear the final gavel price on the Velocity Camaro from the cover of the July issue of Classic Motorsports.
So curious, in fact, that a few of us in the office decided to have an impromptu contest.
Post your best guess on the selling price for this car here in this thread—the closest guess will win a Classic Motorsports T-shirt and whatever swag Andy Reid can stuff into his bag from around the auction. We'll do this "Price is Right" style, so the winner will be the registered site user that comes closest without going over.
I'll start- my guess is $164,000. What do you think?
For those that don't particularly understand or appreciate the build style, this car represents modern day coach building. How else can you explain that values exceed rare originals??
I would have to say 195,000 but my guess is not in the running. I will be sure I get a cool prize or two from the week in Arizona.
Allow me to flex my ig-nance on this car...
Why would anybody want a GT-40 kit car looking interior of a Chevy with an automatic Xmsn?

I don't think there is that kind of money for this kind of car. I'm thinking more along the lines of $85,000. Bob
I don't think it's going to be a high dollar (relative term) car either. It's a hot rod and for it to bid up, you need two folks who agree with the builders concept. It's possible, but with so much other prime automotive metal for sale there I'd bet against it.
$125,000

Back to the original thread. The Turbine Willwood would be fun to see. The Autobianchi since my friends just found one.
Of all the cars there maybe 6 interest me.
Cheers Ron
Interesting to see the projections for the Camaro. I think the Barret-Jackson venue is a real factor in the selling price of the car, so we'll see what happens. Keep the guesses coming!
Others I'm curious about:
Tojeiero MG from the RM sale
Jag XK120 Alloy Roadster at RM
GT 350H at Russo and Steele
IROC Porsche (From the days before IROC was a NASCAR clone...)
There are a ton of unique, cool cars up for bid out west. Darn Andy and Tim for having all the fun!
The Scottsdale auctions are a lot of fun. The RM preview is a must-see, and the Russo and Steele auctions inject a bunch of fun into their show without coming across as too cheesy, or sleezy like some others.
I'll never forget sitting in the backseat of one of JFK's Lincoln limos a few years ago. (at the RM preview) The feel of history was thick, and awe inspiring. What an important car, and a piece of American history. I always thank the folks at RM for allowing us to sit in, touch, smell, and really appreciate that car.
There was also the time I got to sit in the back of the 1941 Cadillac V16 Limo formerly owned by Neil Young. I've always been a big fan, and to hang out back there was really special: http://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/detail-1940-cadillac-v~16-sedan-used-5021170.html
If you are headed to Scottsdale, I'm envious!
Make sure to hunt Andy Reid down out there in the desert. You'll be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable guide. (or a friendlier one!)
Oh, and I'm only saying $75K for the Camaro. Beautifully done car, and the owner no doubt spent twice or 3x that in creating it. The problem is he needs to find a buyer with the exact same vision of what the perfect hot-rod is. It may go for $300K....then again it may not crack $50K.
Yes. One request. You are starting in the hobby, you have 10K. What do you buy, and why?
Fantasy cars are fun, but, reality gets one started. Help out the newbies reading the publication and this site.
10K. That's it. What can you buy?
To flyinlow:
This one is easy...Austin Healey Bugeye (a daily driver, not concours).
Cheap to maintain, the wind is in your hair and it ALWAYS gets a thumbs up!!!!!....oh, and one more thing....the chicks....well, they love it too.

Leo,
Remember we're Old Farts. There are a ton of people out there today who don't know how to drive a stick and don't care to learn. In fact I know teenagers who are 17 and older who have no interest in getting a drivers license! Driving might interfere with their texting!
It's like your comment about people who tune by "flash" and don't know how a carburetor works. Ferrari and many of the other unobtanium brands are producing a lot of models with only an Auto Xsmn. It's "faster" so it must be better? Not always in my mind.
