Has anyone road raced an AOD transmission,if so what did you have to do to it.

Not specifically road race, but I autocrossed and did a few track events with a 91 Thunderbird that had an AOD. I say had, because once I started adding power to the 5.0, it died. First, the 1-2 shift would hang, and eventually I lost 2 altogether. The autopsy showed fragged clutches and general heat damage. I had a Trans-Go kit. I ended up swapping in a T-5, which also didn't like the abuse, but that's another story.

At a minimum, I would add/upgrade the trans cooler and mod it to shift quicker. I can't imagine NOT being frustrated by an AOD on a track (I was), but it should work for a while; as in maybe a few events. I'd start accumulating manual parts in the meantime.

I hear you need to carefully select your shift kits. Some low quality ones out there. I'm sure a few more will chime in. Bump this in the morning, so it gets some attention. The mornings are more active after 0630-0700.
