I was going through some vacation pictures from a few years back which started me thinking. What is the best or your favorite car museum? The Ferrari Factory Museum in Maranello, Italy rotates the cars they have on display which keep very it interesting.
I tend to gravitate to museums containing sports cars or which have a racing theme.
How about the rest of you?

Lane Motor museum in Nashville, TN. This place is great and has a very interesting collection of cars. Check it out at www.lanemotormuseum.com

The best I've been to was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum .
The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Indiana is pretty good, too.
Closer to home, the Chaparral Gallery at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas has most of the Chaparrals on display - and occasionally on parade around the museum road!
My first thought was about Italian parking brakes but I see the chain - Ha.
I have not been to many car museums but have always found something to interest me. Sports cars, micro and pre-war.

Speaking of museums, I'll be at Lane this Saturday.

Tell Jeff, Brett said hi. I will be taking the 2008 Fiat 500 to the Fiat Freak Out this year so I will be going by sometime later this summer to pick her up. Be sure to check out the Twinie Mini while you are there, crazy. Lane is the best museum out there, you should become a fan on Facebook.

This second one I've been to many times. JB Nethercut is now dead but when alive set up a foundation that allows his collection to remain open to the public free rather than be sold off. He one best of show at Pebble Beach more than anyone else. The cars are spectacular and every one has current registration and key in ignition. He believed they should always be functional works of art.

I feel pretty stupid for not making to The LemMay Museum yet. It's just 2 hour north of me. It started as the worlds largest private car collection and is now a world class museum.

It probably isn't "the best", but the best I have been to is the Gilmore Car Museum outside of Kalamazoo, MI. There are a lot of beutiful cars there, in a beautiful setting.
the colletion of this museum is fantastic and i really appreciate it a lot.

Had a nice time at the Lane museum this morning. That's a fun place. I got to go for a ride in the Davis, a postwar American three-wheeler: http://lanemotormuseum.org/collection/245-davis-divan-1948
I am another fan of the Gilmore museum. I might be biased though, I grew up about a mile and a half from the museum, and I personally know the guy that owns it, and I had two best friends that worked there.
beautiful setting, great cars, sort of an eclectic mix, which I like (would like some more sports cars though). The shows that they hold there are awesome.
I need to go one last time before I move out of the state.
