Going to a French car show next weekend. Renaults, Peugeot's, Simca's, etc. If you had to choose your favortite French Classic, what would it be?

For me, probably a Renault R8 Gordini or Simca 1000 sedan.

Check out the great picture on this site of all the classic Renaults:

There is a guy around here has an orange Alpine that is nice. There is also a Panhard race car at Sportscar Workshops in Richmond, Virginia that is nice.

This 1911 Breese Paris is nice too. The owner also has a 1912 Breese Paris.

I like the Citroen 2CV and DS for their uniqueness.

They aren't terribly sporty, though. The Alpine that wlkelley posted would probably be my favorite.

I don't think I could settle on a single one, the history of French cars up to the 50s/60s (and even later on) is full of marvelous vehicles.

For example, most of the cars built by Voisin: http://www.supercars.net/Search2?INPUT=Voisin

Or the Facel Vegas, like this HK500:

From the later years, probably a Matra:

I love the Bugatti cars as well, especially the 51.

OK. I will relent cause I have always had a soft spot for this bad boy:

The Renault Alpine and R5 Turbo are very cool. I cast 1 vote for the Pug 505. IIRC, they won a lot of SCCA Showroom Stock races back in the mid-eighties. Cheers, Scott

Bugatti is the easy choice, but I also go with Citroen for the weirdness. I do like the R5, though... the local Lotus dealer had one for sale on their lot a few years ago. Looked identical to the one NOHOME posted.

A big ditto for the A110. It's at the top of my 'want' list, irrespective of nationality.

The Alpine and Darl'Mat for sure, but don't forget the Traction Avant:
