Well I bought myself a roller- RWA Midget!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Unfortunately it's snowed into a barn, so I don't have it yet.

The goal? Works tribute vintage racer!

Wish me luck!

My 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 9th cars were/are RWA Midgets. Love em.

This my first RWA, and I'm very excited!

It's going to be hard to focus on my 79 after this one comes home. Being a learning addict and not knowing much about the 1275's means the 1500 may be neglected for a bit...

Sweet!

MG's multiply like rabbits. Once you get two of them the third and fourth are not far behind.

Round Wheel Arch. They made them only in '72, 73, and '74. Good for fitting wider tires if you like to race and also good for aesthetics if you like to look at the back half of the car.

Just to clarify- this refers to the rear wheel arches.

I know where there is a 4.30 ratio rear end for that. Came out of a 58 Austin A35. Thing is so tiny I can pick it and use it like a curling bar..... but I'd need to do like 30 reps to get a decent burn. Team Evil on this board just pulled it because he needs something beefier.

Congrats. See my profile for a pic of my Midget vintage racer.

Hmmm... I wonder if it needs a new home...

I will give him a shout!

I know, they aren't very big!

I had a '72 in college in the early '80's. I bought it from the original owner with less than 20k on it. It was blue, I loved it, until a 16yo in a Buick decided it no longer needed to live and hit me head on. Not something you remotely want to do...but I still miss that car.

Congrats...they always look like the most fun at any vintage event!

I drove a '73 in college and also got hit... three times. The last was a T-bone at 35 mph with a Subaru Justy and was fatal to the car and nearly to me.

I recently read of a guys wife being hit twice at 55 mph in her Midget. Link is here if you are interested: http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?3,2569805

I hope it never happens to me.

As for the build I can't decide if I should go with "era correct"' or pretty much stock, or take the windshield off and slam it to the ground...

Basil- did you fill in the holes for the wipers and the wind screen mounts?

Yes on the wiper holes. I left the windshield holes open in case I wanted to use a cut down windshield. I later decided to go with the Brooklands screen, mostly after I saw one used on the cockpit of a WWI fighter in the San Diego transport museum. My car has a particular "aviation" theme, and 500 internets if you guess what it is. ;)

Well, the color makes me think Fokker Dr 1, but the insignia is British.

British red baron?
