Well, the color makes me think Fokker Dr 1, but the insignia is British. British red baron?

Well, you got the British part right, but I probably threw you with that WWI talk. Think era of the car. Another hint: RAF

Could it be the Red Arrows?

That's the best my google-fu can do...

Bingo! The car is named The Gnat after the Folland Gnat, which was used by the Red Arrows in that era. A Gnat is also a dipteran fly like a Midge, which is the MG mascot. The Folland Gnat was the smallest fighter plane ever used in a combat role.

That was cool Basil, thanks!

I had no idea they existed- very interesting to read about them.

Awesome! And bonus points for finding it in an actual barn!

Let me know if you need my help. Funny, I noticed what looks like my old rear clip in the background.

You'll need to come and see the AC Ace (Cal Ace) I'm picking up at the end of the month anyway.

Right on! I think it was purchased out of a barn and put into a second barn. Interesting journey!

I will do that, thank you!

If you sold that clip to a vintage racer in Chelsea, MI then you are correct! I bought it off the guy I crew for. He bought it because he needed a fender.

I'd love to check it out! Just let me know when and where!

Cool project! I always wanted a RWA Midget. Loved the look of those. My own Midget was a '71. Daily driver after high school for a couple years. Loved that car.

Yes, that's the rear clip from one of my old race cars. I actually traded a case of beer for the fenders and stuff. It had all been sitting around my shop to long. Floor pan from that car in now under my MK1 Mini project. What could be cooler than a rear wheel drive mini with all midget suspension and power train?

My father has one (maybe 2, we have to go out and check the other donor car. We have 2.75 donor cars right now... Yes .75...) 3.7 gear ratio that's apparently good for racing Midgets up North (ours has only raced at Sebring, Daytona, Roebling Road, Road Atlanta, PBIR and Homestead) if you are interested in it. Ill ask him if that's right and what he wants for it.

BTW- Here's a picture of our racing Midget (we also have one that's being restored for street use with a racing cam and then all the donor cars).

The car is actually a 1972 model, just from the firewall back... We had a '74 nose welded on after a major wreck the car was involved in at Daytona. This car will also be for sale soon if anyone is interested, however we have a donor tub we want to move everything over too first.
