Sunday, June 6th at Harkness Memorial State Part in Waterford, CT near New London ... under a tornado watch all afternoon!

Update ... I overlooked the best one:

Rust patched with duct tape and a screen window in the back ... but it runs well and the paint is very appropriate

Sownman asked: Any Tigers there?

The featured marque was Sunbeam yet there were only 2 Tigers and 1 Alpine there. I was disappointed. I was hoping to see an Imp.

Bravenrace asked: Or TVRs?

Yes, a row of about 8-10 various older and newer models. Here's a nice Vixen:

Only three Sunbeams??

It's odd, at our local (Dayton) British Car Day in August we usually have 5 or 6 Tigers and a few Alpines. This is out of about 300 (I think) cars last year.

But only one TVR (an orange Vixen) most years.

Yup ... odd it is. I pretty sure there are more than 3 Sunbeams in Southern New England. But that's all they could seem to muster for the 2010 specialty marque. Anyway here's one of the ones that was there on Sunday.

I am in between the British Car Day at Larz Andersen Museum in Brookline MA. Since it was raining in the morning in Brookline I decided to go to British By The Sea. It turned out to be a good choice. A good field of cars and a beautiful spot. I too was surprise at the low turnout of Sunbeams.

We had maybe 40 - 50 cars (instead of the usual 200 or so) at Brookline before I had to leave at 11:30 for a graduation. It did sprinkle a couple times, but no big deal. The Jaguar guys were out in force, But there were only one or two TVR's and just two from the Rootes world, a Chevy V6 converted Alpine, and a Hillman. My Tiger stayed home, its bilge pump on back order from VB...

In past couple years my son and I had got stuck making up the parking plan on the back of an envelope as the cars poured in. This year we planned ahead and had one all drawn up, and didn't come close to needing it. Oh well, we're ready for next year...

And there are plenty of Tigers, and Sunbeams, in New England, TE/AE usually has 40 to 60 memberships in New England, but getting more than 10 at any local gathering is a miracle. We'll do better this year, as we host the TE/AE annual convention in Rockland Maine, on the Columbus Day weekend.

I was going to go, but watching the radar with the HUGE, ugly thunderstorm cells, and the Tornado Watch, which became a warning, me and the Spitfire stayed home. You guys were very lucky. Any further north, and you would have really been dumped on. With a Tornado watch I was surprised it wasn't postponed. That might explain the lower than normal turnout.
