I've always found them very attractive in a variety of ways. In a time of heavily inflated classics, they seem like they have a fairly manageable buy-in.
What's the scoop on these? They made a ton, so I'd think that parts prices wouldn't be too bad, but there's not many in North America.

Your best resource will be Brad Nauss automotive. He is the biggest supplier and source of information in the US for traction avants. They made plenty of them, but they made the last one quite a while ago, and few survive in the US. Body shells have never been a Citroen strong point, so expect to find rust to fix even on the shiniest ones.
What do you want to do with it? They are capable cruisers, and amazingly comfortable for their age, but you'll be hard pressed to do much past about 55 mph.

I'd like to put a newer motor in, but don't want to go RWD because that would fundamentally alter the intent of the car. The oddball transaxle configuration might be insurmountable however, as the nose is too narrow for tranverse, and there isn't much volume in front of the wheels to house a tranny if one was to go with a rear-engined setup - transplanted up front.
Yeah, I guess that Toronado drivetrain won't quite fit...
Although I hate to suggest bastardizing two of my favorite classics in one shot, the classic SAAB 900 was an inline turbo 4 cylinder spinning the front wheels and easily tuned past 225 HP...
Ohh. If I'd have seen that last year, I'd have been might tempted to ship it cross country. They are a car that has a lot of irrational appeal to me.
Ever see Diva? Saw the Traction Avant in that movie over 30 years ago and it still stays with me.
