I've been working on a documentary photography project about the Monterey Motorsports Reunion since 2019 and thought there might be some interest in it on the Classic Motorsports forum.
The project is called 'The Historics' and consists of a series of black and white photographs taken at the annual Motorsports Reunion event between 2019 and 2024. The project melds motorsport and humanist photography into a series of images that document the tireless efforts of the mechanics who work around the clock to prepare the cars for race day, and the drivers who push them to the limit on track.
The photographs were all shot on black and white film and are being printed as silver gelatin prints using traditional methods. These methods and materials were chosen to provide the project with an authentic appearance consistent with the era of the subject matter.
A selection of photographs from the project can be viewed on my website at https://www.andrewchasin.photography/the-historics.
I've also recently published Volume 1 in a series of small books containing photographs from the project, and hope to publicly exhibit the work at some point in the future.
Questions or comments on the project are more than welcome.
Thanks in advance for your interest.
