Car: 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe

Owner:  Michael Stone

Location:  Kingston, WA USA

Class:  Aston Martin

Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe is a right-hand drive model fitted with trafficators and turn signal lamps. The aluminum coachwork is by Mulliners of Birmingham. The car is finished in Ivory with Claret interior. It is one of 102 drophead coupes produced. Original UK license plates JRD 555. I've owned the car since 1982 when I pushed it out of a shed in Snohomish, WA. The Aston body and interior were completely restored to original specification in 2010. The VB6J "Vantage” DOHC six-cylinder engine was rebuilt in 2019. The DB2/4 is shown and driven regularly in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Geez, this thread is spectacular! Viewers need to look at every post, and enjoy the pics, rather than jumping to posting a personally motivated comment for or against the previous post. We need more threads like this. I think this thread should be in a more prominent place on the forum. Unfortunately the CMS forum doesn't have as much participation as others.

Car:  1962 Porsche 356 B S90 Sunroof Coupe

Owner:  Gerry Curts

Location:  Tampa, Florida

Proposed Class(es):  Porsche and/or Sports and GT Cars (1960-1969)

Details:  This car was purchased 6 years ago and went thru a 5 year full restoration.  The original owner was a Dentist and his wife living in Hawaii.  They took delivery under the Porsche Tourists Delivery Program at the Sonauto dealership in Paris, France, on March 28, 1962.  The car was delivered with 22 factory options as well documented in the Kardex.  Virtually all the options were missing when I purchased the car.  It was a daunting task to find most of these missing items, but original authentic parts were ultimately located, purchased, and restored; many were found in Europe.  The Dentist’s wife was especially fond of the color of the water in the lagoon near their home, so she had paint mixed in Hawaii to match that color.  The paint was then sent to the Porsche factory and the car was painted with the owner’s supplied paint.  This restoration was un-compromisingly focused on restoring the car exactly as it was originally delivered in 1962.  It is a 100% numbers matching car.

1954 BSA C10L 250cc Sidevalve

Canoga Park, CA

Extremely sympathetic restoration to original considering the model's rather pedestrian provenance and market value. A labour of love by someone that I happened upon and acquired for my collection. I had the engine and gearbox stripped and refreshed with new gaskets, top end rings, etc., as it weeped a bit of oil when ridden and the compression was slightly down. Now starts first kick and runs like a British watch!?

Original down to the every component, sheet metal part, carburettor, control, ignition key, etc. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3U2yOOzIqA

1950 Sunbeam S7 Deluxe

Canoga Park, CA

A completely restored, original example of the low-production Sunbeam S7 Deluxe, which might have been BSA's postwar range-topper, as they bought the Sunbeam marque and hoped to have this be the new BSA. They went with the parallel twin A7 500 (and A10 650) instead, and the inline twin 500cc Sunbeam was a standalone marque under the BSA umbrella.

As a rubber-mounted 500cc inline OHC twin with shaft drive and styled after the BMW R75, it was ahead of its time in many ways. Available in either Mist Green or Black, the green was the definitive colour for this machine and establishes it as one of history's unmistakable classics.

1952 MG TD

Owners: Lianne & Alberto Naon

Location: Miami, Florida

Proposed Class: Sports & GT Cars (1946-1959)

Details:

MG TD's were manufactured in Great Britain with a total production of 29,664 (23,488 exported to the USA). Price when new was US $2,115 MSRP. A 4 cylinder 1,250 cc engine produces 54 HP, and has a top speed of 77 mph. Many famous race car drivers, like Carol Shelby, Ken Miles, Phil Hill, Roger Penske, started their racing carriers in MG's.

Our MG TD took 5 years to complete a full "ground-up" restoration. Every single component was fully restored or replaced. Great attention was made to make sure every detail was as delivered when new by an MG factory dealer. The only aftermarket options included were offered by MG new car dealers. It is a 100% number matching car.

Car: 1957 Lincoln 2 Door Premiere Hardtop.

Owners: Paul / Kathy Roberts

Location: Seminole, Florida. (Tampa Bay Area)

Class: Preservation Class

Invited by Gasparilla Concours.

Details: Paint Code 64 Starmist White over Ivy Green Poly. 368 Y Block 300HP, 15,185 units built, current mileage 72,088.

I'm the third owner of this Lincoln, which I've owned for 3 years. The second owner bought it from the estate of the original owner in 1991. The second owner had the green paint, front and rear bumpers rechromed in 1992. I have all the paperwork to confirm. Other than that, this car has just been very well maintained. Since my ownership, regular maintenance has been done (Lincoln Land), rebuilt or replaced with NOS parts. This car also has Novi AC mounted in the trunk (AC BLOWS COLD). I enjoy this car and drive her weekly in good weather. Even in the Florida heat with the air on, she runs cool. Since my ownership she has won a Red Ribbon at Lake Mirror Concours d'Elegance in 2018. Also at the Eastern LCOC meet in Bradenton Fl on May 2018, she took First Place in Primary and Best Primary Division in 49-57 class. These are in addition to many awards at local shows. The other interesting fact is that I have an appraisal from Continental Auto LLC (signed by Wayne Carini) from May 1991 which was done to help sell the car from the estate of the original owner. This verifies the mileage in 1991 at 66,258.

Thank You for your consideration. Paul

Car: 1964 Citroën Deux Chevaux (2CV) Spécial

Owners: John Wallace

Location: Indian Lake Estates, FL

Proposed Class: Micro Cars

Details: This 2CV was purchased on the internet in 1999 (kinda scary back then) from a collector in southern California, I was living in Michigan at the time, so it was a long trek to pick up a car.

It was a complete car, but lacking any personality, pizzazz or life. Over the past 20 plus years I have worked, bit by bit, to make this drab lifeless “Duck” into a respectable show worthy “Duck”.

Many upgrades, repairs, and modifications, both big and small have been performed to capture the spirit and vision I have for the car. It’s not just a car, it’s a way of life.

This car is not 100 % original in the purest form of the word, but is in the spirit of the word. The simplicity, relative ease of repairs and modification by the 2CV owners, made the 2CV subject to many upgrades and changes.

From the whimsical to job specific changes the 2CV has been found in many different and unusual configurations worldwide. I too have followed in this spirit of change and modification to mold this 2CV into my vision and fit my needs.

I was invited to submit my entry by the Gasparilla Concours d'Elegance folks.

Car: 1970 BRE Datsun 510

Owners: Eric and Vicki Schulhof

Location: Simi Valley, CA

Proposed Class: Historic Hod Rods

Alan Mayes, the editor of Car Kulture Deluxe defined a Hot Rod as "the simplest of cars—a stripped-down, basic automobile made to go faster, handle better and stop quicker than the car it was based on. All of its parts will serve one of those three purposes."

By this definition Peter Brock's "Personal Street Datsun 510" is certainly a Hot Rod. To promote the BRE parts business (that was the result of the Trans Am Racing program), Peter Brock and BRE built a street Datsun 510 as a showcase and painted it bright yellow.

The car was lightened by replacing the hood, front fenders and trunk lid with lightweight BRE fiberglass panels. The rear seat was removed and the battery relocated to the trunk for better weight balance. The rear 510 steel brake drums were replaced with 240Z Aluminum drums.

The factory steel wheels where ditched in favor of the same 13x7 American Racing Libres used on the Trans Am cars. The suspension was given a full BRE makeover including lowering springs, sway bars and Koni shocks.

The drivetrain was modified with tubular headers and a pair of Weber sidedraft carburetors and a 5 speed transmission from a Datsun roadster.

A BRE fiberglass racing seat was installed and a four point rollbar and racing belts. The interior was renovated with improved door panels and upholstery which resulted in a very classy Datsun 510.

The end result, often referred to as the "Brock Buster" was featured in Motor Trend Magazine in 1973 and the subject of a Revell model kit the same year.

My father acquired the car in 1980. It has been in the family 40 years and was fully restored by Datsun 510 specialist Troy Ermish in 2019 and displayed at SEMA.

Car:   1969 Shelby GT-350 fastback coupe "one of one as optioned"

Owner:  Eduardo Padron

Location:  Miami, Florida

Proposed Class(es):  Sport & GT Cars (1960 - 1969)

Details:  This 1969 Shelby GT-350 was built on February 13th, 1969 and was exported to Fogg Motors Ltd., a Ford Shelby Hi Performance auto dealer located in New Westminster, B.C. Canada.  The car would remain in the Vancouver area for the next 36 years until it was sold and shipped to the U.S. in 2005.

The car retains its original numbers matching drive train and remains preserved in factory condition, documented with Shelby Automotive Co. dealer order and factory invoice, Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd. purchase order, owner's manuals, original keys, Marti Autoworks Elite Report, as well as being listed in the Shelby American Registry and signed by Carroll Shelby.  Kevin Marti's Elite Report reflects that of the 2366 Shelbys manufactured in 1969, this Shelby 's option configuration makes it very unique being a "one of one", as optioned, Shelby Gt-350.

This is one of the earliest known restored P-1800 Volvos known. Serial number is 13xx. Acquired years ago in an eBay auction. Me and my wife flew out and drove to Mount Rainer and on to Pebble Beach. The adventure began ! A few understatements in auction. Who woulda' thunk it? An eBay auction! Along the way we stopped and saw editor Keith Martin. Also had the clutch go out on Mt. Rainer! The P-1800 was built by Jensen in Scotland when Ghia backed out. In 1963 production was moved to Sweden. This is a numbers matching unit with 106,xxx miles on it. Very original except the front disc brakes were upgraded to 64 models because of parts availability. We recently drove it to the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival.

1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe

Owners: Darwin & Patricia Ludi

Chula Vista, California

Class: Corvette or Sport  & GT Cars 1960-1969

We are the 4th owners of the Corvette since the year 2000. The car had been parked outside under a tree when the 3rd owner purchased it for $7K. He did the initial restoration and my wife and I finished it. Only the paint was not done by us.

Car: 1957 Chevrolet Corvette

Owner: Michael & Tracie Capozzio

Location: Chardon, Ohio

Proposed Class: Corvette

I am the owner of Classic Corvette Restoration's in northeast Ohio. A customer was selling this 1957 and brought the car in to prep for sale. The sale fell through and seeing as I had already prepped the car and knew what it would need going forward I purchased it. My wife and I drove it for the summer then I completely disassembled the car and did a full restoration to it. It is a 270hp 283 with dual Carter carburetors and solid lifter camshaft. It has a non original 4 speed transmission and original 3.70 positraction rear end. The car gets driven almost daily in summer months and has seen highway time through multiple states.

1933 MG J1

Sports Cars (Prewar)

1933 MG J1 Tourer, “Beatrix”
Introduced in 1932 and built through 1934, only 250 units of the J1 were produced. The
J1 was offered as a 4 seater with open or closed bodywork. The J2 was a 2 seater version
with only 130 units built. Of the combined 380 units it is believed that worldwide 50 to 70 remain today.
Two racing variants were based on the J2 and coded as J3 and the supercharged J4. All four J series models share the same chassis and drive-train.

Beatrix was a barn find discovered in the UK in 1996. Apparently after the War she was painted red over her original grey. In her red paint she was banged around for
decades as a racer -- then left for the chickens. After arriving in the US she was restored over a 12 year period by many different hands. Most of the work was masterful. -- most -- is the key word here. She needed help when we bought her in 2018.

Looking great but mechanically limping we brought her to South Carolina needing new wiring, brakes, differential and a lot of TLC. Tom Metcalf of Safety Fast! Restorations in Ohio helped with the differential; we did the wiring, new dash and new shiny bits. That took another 13 months.

To mark her long journey back to solid restoration -- we dubbed her ‘Beatrix” -- a name, we’re told, derived from the word “voyager”.

1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Coupe

Owners: Phil and Audrey Raker

Manning, SC

When the “late model” (1965-1969) Corvairs were introduced in late 1964, the budding engineer in me immediately fell in love with them. I recognized that this was truly an American Grand Touring car in the mold of air-cooled Porsches and E-Type Jaguars. This example is a Cypress Green, 140 HP, four-carburetor, 1965 Corsa Coupe: the model chosen by Don Yenko as the basis for his Stingers. The exterior has been repainted in the original color, and the Faun interior is all original, except for the carpet. The Minilite wheels were an available option on the Yenko Stinger, so I’ve included them on this car. At the 2007 International Convention of the Corvair Society of America, this car was judged to be the over-all best Corvair at the show (combining scores from Concours, Autocross, Fuel Economy, and Road Rally), winning the Ed Cole Memorial Award.

Car: 1913 Havers Knickerbocker Speedster

Owner: Robert Evans

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Proposed Class: Sportscars (Prewar)

The Havers Motor Car Company was short-lived. Organized in Port Huron, Michigan, in the spring of 1910 by brothers Fred and Ernest Havers, the Havers Motor Car Company sold their first production vehicles in 1911. Initially, the cars were manufactured in space acquired within the Port Huron Engine and Thresher Company facility. In 1912 the Havers Company purchased the former E-M-F factory, also in Port Huron, to increase production.

As with many automobiles at that time, The Havers was an assembled car with major components sourced from quality producers of the day. The L-Head Continental engines were initially rated at 44 horsepower, joined in 1913 by a Six-55, and for 1914 by an even larger Six-60. A key marketing point for the company was that all cars utilized six-cylinder engines. Having sold 200 vehicles in 1912, the company optimistically predicted 1913 output at 1200 cars. However, these totals don’t appear to have been achieved, and on the night of July 7, 1914, a fire destroyed the factory complex. The company announced plans to rebuild, but creditors had their doubts and petitioned the court to have it adjudged bankrupt. The Havers company never recovered.

Chassis #715 / Engine #8215

The car's known history starts in 1950 in Washington state, it's then sold to a student in 1959 and registered in Louisiana. By 1985, the car finds it's way to upstate New York and is described as follows: "the fenders and body are both wrong… what I have of an actual Havers is the running gear, frame, wheels, engine, trans, radiator, etc.”.

In 2010, the remains of the car are consigned to a local auction and purchased by an authority on the make, John Tornquist. A restoration ensues and 4 years later, nearing completion, the car suffers significant damage in a garage fire. Luckily, the engine and radiator were out of the car when the fire happened. Another five years pass before the car is finally finished; today, it represents a piece of automotive history lost to the ages. One of four known surviving Havers automobles.
