Four doors?

Every now and then I get the hots for something with a bench seat, auto on the column, and four doors. Anyone else ever get nostalgic? I guess it reminds me of the first car I drove.

I always considered 4-door sedans to be old man's cars and never wanted one when I was a kid. My first car, in 1966, was an MGA. I eventually did come to appreciate 4-door hardtops as great cruisers, but never had any real desire to own one. Even at my advanced age, my nostalgia is for 2-doors like my Jeep Cherokee and my British roadsters.

No... but the other half and I are wagon people. Someday, we'll find that '71 Mercury station wagon she wants. Preferably in brown, and sans the faux wood siding.

My first was a LBC, but I could really get with something like this. Especially if it had a trailer hitch to pull my race car. I would have to change out the wheels for something a little more period looking, everything else is spot on.

If I were looking for something to trigger nostalgia, I'd pick something more like this.

I suppose sedans strike me as more practical necessities than something I really desire. On the other hand, it's hard not to like a fintail Mercedes.

I was going to do this to a W111 coupe, but my Mercedes buddy said he'd murder me in my sleep. But when this came along... marginally drivable but not quite as turnkey as I had hoped... I had to jump on it.

Only car I ever had with a bench seat was a '69 Ranchero, which also had auto trans and column shift. Only two doors, though...

I've always wanted one of these - 67/68 Renault R8 Gordini. Another 4 dr. on my list is a 86/87 Dodge Shelby Omni GLHS.

Margie absolutely loves her 1988 BMW 528e. I have to admit, it is a damned good car and a bit slow, but still very modern feeling to drive.

We have an '08 Accord 4 door. It's white and I call it The Appliance. Our's is a 2.4 liter "four" and it's actually a very good car. Seats 5, handles OK and gets almost 30 mpg. No need to post a photo of it......just look out your window and you'll probably see one in the next 5 minutes.

I had a 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-T a couple of years ago. That car was a blast. An E28 and an Alfa Giulia Super are on my automotive bucket list. I've wanted a Dolomite Sprint for ages, but those are cost prohibitive these days. Cheers, Scott

A friend of mine has one of the nicest of these in the world. 4 on the tree, and he claims 50mpg out of the single carb 1300.
