So, everyone give their classics some love this past holiday weekend? I went to the Orlando cars and coffee meet and saw some friends. On the way there, I hit something with the car. I'm not sure what it was, but it caught the "knuckle" of the wiper arm and splattered all over the windshield. It didn't leave a permanent mark, but it was something with some heft. Sorry, bug.

Miserable weather here over the weekend -- average for late February, not May. I mostly stayed inside and watched the Indy 500 on Sunday.

We had great weather here in Southern New England, sunny and in the 70-80s every day. I took Friday off work to stretch the weekend to 4 days. Worked on my Spitfire and drove my Miata. Nice!

I replaced a failed coolant hose on the Mini, flushed the cooling system out thouroghly, then drove it around in the rain on Sunday doing some errands and in the sun on Monday doing some errands. I built a radiator cowl out of some sheet metal to help duct airflow through the radiator and out the left fenderwell.

I put the engine back in the 914. I did a top end rebuild on it and she fired right up. However (isn't there always a however) there is a not so nice noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. I just readjusted the valves over there as they were a little loose. Hopefully that will do the trick. Wish me luck!

My son and I went to a British car show in a nearby town on Saturday, but it wasn't all that great. A bunch of MGB's, TR-6's, and new Minis and not much else. There were about 30 cars there, and they charged $5 a person admission. Does that seem a little unreasonable to you guys? It does to me, but we have a lot of good (and free) cruise ins and car shows around here. At least it was for charity. Sadly, neither of my classics left the garage this weekend, but my Solstice GXP did get a lot of top down miles, so it was all good.

I spent my weekend working on our WRX project car. New exhaust, including uppipe and downpipe. It's not a classic yet, but probably should reach that status someday.

I had the Miata and the MGB out several times for some top down fun; including a group ride through the countryside with the local British car club that included 3 Austin-Healeys, 3 MGs, a Morgan, a Jensen-Healey, 2 Triumphs, and a Jaguar.

Busy car weekend. Flagged at Limerock for the Rolex cars on Friday. Worked on my son's Spitfire, put on dual carbs, Maniflow header and stainless exhaust Saturday. Took the front of the Spitfire engine off Sunday and fixed, I hope, an oil leak from the rebuild. I hope because the ignition switch died and I couldn't start it. New part will be here by the weekend, something else for my son to learn.

Monday got the motorhome and the race Spit ready for this weekend for the SCCA Historic Race Group at Limerock. We have a two day event, sharing the track with the Jag club.
