Help ID 60s racer?

I'm having trouble identifying this car, shot at Riverside in (I think) 1965, but could be 1963.

Any ideas?

That grille screams Aston Martin, but I'm stumped.

It's a west coast car, so I can't be sure (I grew up on the east coast), but it's an H Modified, so it has a little bitty engine, and it has four exhaust stacks, so it's not a SAAB cornpopper, which were common engines in the class. The body is very Cooper-like. Looks very early 60s. Somebody must have info - maybe somebody like Dave Friedman?

Another source could be Chris Vandagriff at Historic Motor Sports Association www.hmsausa.com. He's been involved with West Coast road racing since the sixties.

Best part is still the driver's helmet!

Wacky!

It does look a bit whacky, but actually those plastic bubble face shields were quite common in the sixties, probably military surplus. They snapped onto a standard Bell helmet. It looks like the driver of the mystery car has his helmet propped up on his head for some reason. Or maybe it's not strapped on securely and the airflow is lifting it.
