My brother runs an antique store and a buddy gave him this grill, but has no idea of application.
We have been trying to figure out what it is out of - I'm thinking Mercury, he is leaning Chevy, but haven't found one that is the same.
Look familiar to anyone?
I think it’s an AMC. Maybe a Rambler that's missing some center trim?
It's pretty close to the 1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire, but not quite.
1965 Coronet 500 is close too.
I'm fairly positive that it falls within the 1962-1965 range.
I also think that really looks like a Mercury grill, but couldn't find a matching example.
I'm with the early 60's Merc camp
In reply to wheelsmithy :
The slots go in the wrong direction.
1962 Mercury Monterey is the closest thing that I can find so far. Still looking.
Yeah, the Mercurys have vertical bars, the Ramblers are horizontal. I looked at a bunch of Mercurys, no Oldsmobiles.
Bingo!! 1962 Mercury Meteor Custom
The funny thing is, my father had a 1963 Meteor. Totally different grill. They were all one year only back then.
It's also pretty close to the Remington Micro Screen.
The big Mercs I seen were all 5 vertical bars w/ same style as OP
figured a smaller Merc would have less, didn't look that far tho
nice catch there
From this shot, it looks like it's upside down in the original photo. The two tabs in the center face down.
So... where's the antique store and how much does he want for the grill?
To be honest, these are the era cars I grew up with. The first car I remember was my Dad's 1955 Studebaker Commander, 2 door, stick. Shifting impressed a young mind.
PERFECT! I thought it looked Mecury, but could never find the right one.
Thanks to all for playing the game ;=)
In reply to Woody:
The store is in Conway, Washington, but he ships all over. I will ask about price.
Edit - I got the story second-hand from my other brother. It seems that he bought a pile of grilles and bumpers from his buddy. Free is better, but whatever...
He is looking to get $100 for the grille and headlight bezles.
