I grew up with Corvairs. There is a special place in my heart for them. My parents had a 61 and 65. My dad was in the Canadian Airforce and we drove the 61 from Toronto to Holloman AFB in New Mexico picking up Route 66 from Chicago when we were posted to the USA for a year. The trip took four long days back then. Made the same trip back the other direction a year later. This was in the heat of summer with no air conditioning but with the windows rolled down and no seat belts. My brother and I were young kids at the time. We later took the 65 to a year in England followed by three years in Germany and then brought it back to Canada in 1969. We travelled all over Europe with that car pulling a small camper trailer. Dad finally scrapped the 65 in the early 70's
