Does anybody here have or know where to find some photos of an unrestored 1969 Mustang Grande with the optional side stripes?
I'm working on one now, and we're trying to find some good photos of one with the stripes, preferably close ups of the stripes.
The photos I've found have been stripe-less, restored, or a scan of a brochure photo that looks airbrushed.
Thanks,
Rob

Rob,
there are actually 2 of these Grandes for sale near me on CL, but one of them has been "converted" to the slightly more rare GT. Pix of either one are a bit too small to be of use to you.
HOWEVER, back in 1969, my aunt bought one of these to replace a Mustang that had a "tilt-a-way" steering wheel, not the factory optional one, but the steering column would move when the brakes were applied.
Her Grande was a darkish, medium green with a black vinyl roof and black interior. One thing I remember about that car? For a Mustang, it was VERY quiet inside when the engine was running.
About the stripe(s):
on Grandes, the side stripe was actually a "stripe within (or ON?) a stripe. That is, there was a "broadish" stripe of one color (on her green car it was black) and on top of it was "applied" a yellow/gold stripe. There is/was no space between the different colors, which is why I say it was a stripe ON a stripe. I don't know where you can find a good picture of this, perhaps a really close up picture of an unrestored '69 Grande? And I don't know what colors the stripes were for which color of car. The Grande, being a "deluxe" Mustang, had a VERY heavy emphasis on "color-coding", so I imagine there were a few colors of stripes/stripe color combinations. Perhaps the broad stripe was the same color as the vinyl roof?
EDIT:
I just looked in one of my many Mustang restorer's books, the "stripe on a stripe" used on the Grande is the same "type" of stripe used on the Mach I at the middle of the door. Again, NO space between the stripes. Books also contradict themselves on where the stripe(s) on a Grande go. On '69s, the stripes are along, but BELOW the ridge of the fender line. On '70s, the stripes start at the front ABOVE the headlight and the 2 front fender "scoops" and runs along that bulge to just past the rear edge of the door. Stripes on '69s and '70s are WAAAY different, the '70s being more subtle.
