My wife just urged me to buy "our" (a collective couple thing)dream car...a 2009 Jim Clark edition Lotus Elise. Its on of 75, and number 5 of 15 that was brought into the US.
I have always thought that in 20 years people will look back on the Elise and think that they "should have, could have" feelings. What's everybody's thoughts on this?

I dunno about the future, but I think it's great in the present:
They're starting to appreciate already. I'd say they're a "better buy it now" car.

I drive past a Lotus dealer every day and I've watched first hand where the prices of these cars have been going. Used cars that were $25K a few years ago (when the Elise was still being imported) are now selling for over $30K.
The dealer still gets used cars now and then, so I always check what they're asking for them. The last Elise they sold had a asking price of $32K ( http://www.steelwings.com/product/6726/Sold ) and was on the lot for maybe 3 weeks, so I'm guessing they got the asking price. The one they currently have is priced at $32K as well: http://www.steelwings.com/product/6746/277
So yes... if you have the means and SWMBO support, I'd say an Elise is a good car to buy. One of the limited edition versions even more so.
Future classic. Yes definitely.
