Read in 11/07 issue of Octane where a writer thought the prices for 190SLs are too high and said they were "a four cylinder MGB competitor". Are they a German MGB or a baby 300SL? They are good looking cars but I've never seen anything in classic car magazines about them. Prices sure are up there but look at prices for Porche 356s.

MGB competitor in acceleration, baby 300SL in build quality and comfort.

The wife and I really like the 190SL's. In researching them, I found them to be horribly expensive to restore, and equally known for their lackluster performance. Think of them as a parade speed rolling sculpture. A vastly superior choice is the 'pagoda' 230/250 SLs.

I love the pagoda SLs. Definitely on my to-own list for some day.

The Pagoda is definitely the choice over the 190SL.

Never cared for the model until we featured this 190SL...which is admittedly pretty nicely executed.

Ironic that I like the styling of the 190 better than the "Pagoda" but from what y'all say the 230/250's have better performance. Of course I can't afford any of them but ahhh, to dream.

The 190 is a slug. Too much car and not enough engine.
