Political?? Some of you guys need to straighten your undergarments- your panties are in a wad.
No one has said anything political.
The car is a statement about war. It's a friggen Splitty, for crying out loud. The ultimate hippie van, with a gun turret.
It's awesome. If you think it is just a car, then you have missed the entire point.
The car makes a statement about war. The thread title makes a statement about war. The OP made a statement about war. So did the second poster.
But when Rupert comments about his service in that same war, and expresses regret, and I express regret for being on the opposite side of that same disagreement about war, suddenly it's political??
Good grief. Grow a pair.
I support Rupert,, and think his comments were completely in line with the thread. If you want to read about cars, stay out of the thread about a VW art piece that makes a statement about war.
Some of you make huge claims about loving free speech, but are very quick to bash people when they want to say something.
AND, I really like ALL of the pictures that have been posted.
As the OP, I made no statement about war. Nor does the thread title.
It's about a neat VW bus. Nothing more.

I'll accept you at your word.
I believe you intended no statement about war.
But it's not what you communicated to me.
Sorry Guys! I know I am too thin skinned sometimes. I also feel guilty for a lot of reasons. Like many of you,I use cars and car magazines plus my music to help stay up. I'll try hard not to take anything too personal and save my reading experiences and yours!

This is the only part that makes sense and I support.
US Army Retired and Desert Storm
War is political.
Just appreciate good craftsmanship no matter the theme.

X 2. The bottom line is that although we may all have differing opinions about Viet Nam, Iraq or what is the best way to cook eggplant, let's not forget that this is a classic car forum. There are other forums to discuss those.
