The Florida summer is here, so we have to take care of this too-warm condition pretty soon.

I've messed with enough old cars that I don't even try to get away with stock cooling systems any more. Everything gets an aluminum radiator and electric fan. The reduced aggravation is worth the added expense.

I'm not in favor of aluminum and electric unless all else fails. First try a plastic overflow kit from AUTOZONE, perhaps $10. It would be tempting to upgrade the hardware to better wire ties, a better radiator cap, etc. Slicker long term would be to clone the Autozone / Interdynamics plastic kit w/ a OEM unit from later BMW, Volvo, or VW from junkyard. The 2002 never came w/sealed cooling. The longer term solution is to get a recore from California. The guy that did it just died, but someone is taking care of the business. Triple core siamesed factory radiator. Check w/BMWCCA. Can't think of his name, but male. long time CCA member, friendly, professor at Stanford, and Buddist priest (but I don't think any Asian ethnicity) Curt? maybe. I don't see any difference but there were 2 plastic fans, IIRC, 1 four blade, 1 5 blade. 5 blades = noisy, supposedly better. BMWJOHN IN INDY / AVON

I'm with Woody on this one. I just used an E21 rad in mine (IIRC, or was it E30?), and an E30 electric fan.

Not sure what rad and fan I'll go with in The Reconstruction, but it'll definitely be a front-mount fan, unless I end up clearancing the nose to tilt the whole radiator forward.
