No Yellows, no rules, no mandatory safety equipment, and who says old mustangs don't handle?

Geez ... looks like Pierre Levegh at LeMans in '55 just waiting to happen again.

That was awesome. Was that James May driving the mustang?

I dig the toyota(?) keeping pace in reverse after the spin out then whips a J turn to get back in.

Hell yeah! That seemed like a heroic if not somewhat overenthusiastic drive by a few guys in that race. The Celica reverse-to-J-turn was cool.

It does to me as well. Kind of like me and my buddies running around town when we were teenagers.

Epic race!

The motley crew of ill handling cars and questionable drivers in an all-out race to the finish. The Mustang appears to be out for a Sunday drive and did well. You can see the Stang drivers hair blowing in the wind on turn one. Toward the end the Toyota is going backwards and makes an attempt at a classic Rockford “J” turn!

That was great!

Helmets- optional? I saw two people wearing them.

I love how they left the disabled cars right on the track- no yellow flags or anything, just go around 'em!

A lot of fun to watch but 'if their silly enough to go into the event,it's their funeral' pretty much sums it up. It's a good thing that racing is no longer a blood sport. Dying for someone's entertainment is probably not that much fun. We all can do autocross, rallycross, karting, and track days with minimal safety gear and training and still come home in 1 piece. The J turn was awesome all the same :)

If that were tried in the good ole USA the stands would be packed with attorneys with pockets flush with business cards.

I'd love to know the details about the Opel and the Escort. The Opel came with a 1.9 SOHC, right. I drove a first generation and although not bad, it wasn't impressive either. I've got a feeling that both of those were "skillfully" built and well driven.

Yeah, not even a helmet requirement

OK, let's go back in time: when you were quite young, IF you had enough money to put together a "special" just for this event, would you have done it? I'd have to say I probably would. Why not, I did worse than that . . . . shall we say in other situations.
