Unleaded fuel was required after 1972 or '74 if memory serves; I have a 1970 350 V8. Will I do damage by running unleaded? The car won't be raced or run hard (OK, maybe once in a while), would mid-octane unleaded hurt anything?
Thanks, Dan

If you're not sure whether the heads have been done with hardened exhaust seats I'd use an additive. I'd also use higher octane fuel rather than mid level unless you're positive of the compression ratio. Just because detonation isn't loud enough to hear doesn't mean it isn't occurring and causing long term damage. I have had problems with valve recession in the past.
If the engine's never been apart I'd also consider replacing the valve seals and vibration dampener since they're almost 50 years old now.
