Every New Years day, there is a gathering in Calabasas at Village Coffee Roasters (VCR) in the AM for some bench racing and then various groups head off into the canyons for some spirited driving.

Several years ago, we followed Phil Hill around for a while, go lost and stumbled upon a New Years open house party, where the fellow had a restoration shop with Bugattis in various states.

If anyone in SoCal is interested, here are the directions:

Village Coffee Roaster in Calabasas off the 101 frwy. Take the Valley Circle offramp head toward the mountain (West over the fwy), look for the shopping center on the East side of Valley Circle. The Village Roaster is one of many stores there...big parking lot out front.

There normally is a large gathering of various marques, ranging from American classics to Lamborghinis.

Of late, the police have been strict with the speed enforcement, so be careful. Four years ago, a 911 did a little excursion into a culvert. It wasn't pretty. We think the girlfriend of the owner was driving. She was quite upset.

These types of events are fun, and I am sure that there are others across the country. What's your club up to?

I went to Orange County for a "Tour de Orange" about 250 cars I think went out for about a 2 hr 100 mile drive.

Your event would have been easier for me. Next time post sooner please

Many folks around my area participated in a special tour New Years day. Everything from highly powered modern machines to early ‘70’s classics like mine were on the move soon after sunup, much to the satisfaction of the proud owners.

The route? You would ask. It differed for each participant. Mine was about a dozen laps or so of my Massachusetts driveway, behind my classic early 70’s 7 HP Craftsman Snow Blower.

The Tiger is staying inside until the roads get flushed of salt and crud by a couple good rainstorms, probably late March or April.
