British Car Day in Brookline MA 2014:

British Car Day Brookline MA 2015:

Gary, I didn't see you there?

Needless to say the event was cancelled. The Director at Lars Anderson says they may be able to reschedule for later in the year, but their schedule is already pretty tight...

In reply to stu67tiger:

Nope, I didn't even consider going, given the conditions I woke up to this morning. Instead, Annie and I went for brunch at The Coast Guard House in Narragansett http://www.thecoastguardhouse.com/ (We sat inside).

My next planned trip to Larz Anderson for a Lawn Event will be for "Day of Triumph," the last Sunday in July.

Meanwhile, there's an SCCA Regional event at Thompson coming up in a couple of weeks. I like SCCA Club Racing primarily for the Formula Vee and Spec Miata races. Always great.

The official Thompson video of the vintage event a couple weeks ago:

And this is what Thompson looked like in 1956 (track configuration #1, but a similar layout to configuration #4 today, except without Clubhouse turn and the bridge):

The rained-out British Car Day at Larz Anderson has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 15. Thanks to the Bay State MG Club, the date will be shared with the regularly scheduled MG Day at Larz Anderson.

Going to the SCCA Regional races at the revived Thompson track tomorrow. It's about 45 mins. from my house (nice Miata drive). It'll be reminiscent of my going there with my Sunbeam Alpine or Volvo P1800 when I was much younger and went to SCCA Regionals and Nationals there in the 60's and 70's. Weather will be perfect and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I particularly like the Spec Miata and Formula Vee races (although there was no Spec Miata class in the 60's and 70's).

The SCCA Club Racing at Thompson today was excellent (USA grassroots motorsports at its finest, as a Porsche 911 participant said to me). And the weather was great too. Spec Miata and Formula Vee racing was excellent. One interesting tidbit was that as I was parking my Miata in the lot a stately and classy gentleman in a Thompson golf cart drove up to me and asked if I wanted a ride to the infield. I had my GRM T-shirt on, and he said that he had been with Publisher Tim a couple weeks earlier at the Alfa get-together. Turns out it was none other than our friend Tom Letourneau, CMS "Ran When Parked" superstar, RI resident, volunteer at Thompson, and a very, very cool car guy. I declined the golf cart ride because I prefer the exercise, but we chatted for awhile because I knew who he was and we have so much car-stuff in common ... and politics too

All in all, this was a great day of motorsports at Thompson today!!! I'm glad Thompson has been revived.

To wrap up this thread from the spring, the rained out British Car Day At Larz Anderson in Brookline MA was rescheduled to Aug 15, in conjunction with the Bay State MGA Club's MG day. I put a few pictures at:

The next big event in this area is the Vintage Festival at Lime Rock on Labor Day weekend. A tradition for my wife and I and our friends is to book rooms at the Avon Old Farms Hotel in Avon, CT for the weekend.

($75 a night on Priceline).

It's about an hour from LRP. My friend and I go to the track, and the wives have fun shopping around Avon and Collinsville, CT. Perfect. But we do drag them to the "Sunday in the Park" car show. (Skip Barber tried to chat-up Annie a few years ago. That bastard. But he obviously has good taste in women! ).
