Here we go again with perhaps the most entertaining project yet.... My son decided he'd like to tackle the Spitfire 1500 I've had "hanging out" in my garage looking lost for the past 2 years LOL.

So I've donated a project car and of course all the freebee's left over parts, materials, tools and garage for a whole lot of fun working on my sons first official project. We had a great start this weekend stripping most of the car to bare metal and even got a little welding in.. The car is actually very clean except the drivers side floor and rocker. For the most part just surface rust, dents and bruizes on the rest except the passenger rocker which was quite repairable with some sheet metal I just happened to have handy.

My girlfriends probably rolling her eyes, ooops. :0)

Yes, it is sweet thanks Andre'.. Not only fun but so great that my son will now gain and appreciation for these old cars and hopefully carry on the tradition some day when he'll likely be the recipient of my GT6's.

I dropped of a sketch to a local sheet metal shop for a custom power bulge he want's to have on the hood that I helped him dream up. We'll be into the sheet metal again next week.

See you at Mosport!

The project is coming along nicely. Tonight we removed the tub from the frame and will give it a good scrubbing and powerwashing tomorrow. The frame is in excellent condition, covered in oil and dirt and just a bit of surface rust.... http://classicmotorsports.net/reader-rides/3721/body-off-frame/

Vince, Not sure you saw it, but my son and I did a similar project and wrote about it in Classic Motorsports a few years ago.

Yes, I caught some of your posts thanks Tim.

So nice to have the young lads getting enthusiastic isn't it. I bet your son is very proud of the Spitfire he built with his father. Definitely an awesome life experience/memory!

Have a great Easter weekend!

I think what he has learned is even more important than the pride. Now on his third car, he can fix just about anything on an older car.

I agree with Tim, my son learned more than the mechanics, he learned how to approach a problem and solve it.
