Assume I know next to nothing about them.
In reply to bravenrace: made in 1954&1955 Early ones had the same XPAG engine of a MGTC &MGTD The last ones had an optional 1500cc engine instead of the 1250 engine of the earlier cars.. It also had the better head and carburetors. Mechanically it's pretty Identical to the MGTD except optional wire wheels. Oh, plus it actually had bucket seats where the TC & TD had a bench back with individual bottoms.. It's a little harder to work on the engine than a TC or TD
54 or 60 horsepower depending on 1250 (XPAG) or 1500 (XPEG) tiny bit faster, but the engine is working just as hard as a TC or a TD.
The MGTF 1500 commands a premium over a TD but a 1250 without wire wheels or the 1500 engine is a little less than the comparable MGTD Neither though approach of the Value of a TC. Depending on who does it, how it's maintained and things like that engine rebuilds occur every 20-30,000 while an occasional one will reach 50,000. The transmissions last 60,000 or more depending again on how they are used.. There is an aftermarket 5 speed kit available, but expensive.. Paint should be Lacquer which if it looks dead and dull will come back with nothing more than a careful buffing to look as good as new.. Plan on semi annual brake cylinder rebuilds but the linings will last a long time.. Don't be afraid of the carbs. Once adjusted correctly they seldom go out of tune.. There are plenty of us old geezers who know those like the back of our had plus Moss motors has videos etc.. Most problems blamed on the carbs are ignition.. people just don't know how to set points anymore.. While Moss Motors isn't the only source of parts they are the easiest to deal with..
