Great footage! I'd love to race a Mini.

That looks like a LOT of fun. I miss throwing my old GTI into 4 wheel drifts on track days. FWD can be fun too!

The mark I GTI was my first love. I bet it was a ton of fun to race!

Hmm, I thought this was how you drove one.

I used to think this was the general idea on how to drive a mini:

But now it involves this?

Maybe I'm not cut out to drive a mini...

Now that's what I'm talking about! I remember seeing a video from back in the day of someone in a parking park doing this. These cars are amazing.

Minis don't follow the laws of physics. The driving technique is: turn in way too fast, get on the gas, shake your head because your entry speed was too low. Just ridiculous.

I learned to drive on my mother's mini 850 as a teenager and later owned a hotted up Cooper. They really are a blast.

I keep having this day-dream of how fun it would be to build a Mini rally-x car.

Joining a "Mini Classifieds" FB group where I'm staring at 2-3 cars a day for sale at (seemingly) low prices (1000 BP or less sometimes) isn't helping...

In reply to paranoid_android74:

Hutch TrickStar. Classic. I actually have one of those forks (although not gold plated).

Ian- do you mean to sell, or to lease for rally-x events?

Not sure what you mean... Rally-cross as in SCCA rally-cross like irish44j does with his E30:

I'd be fun to build a Mini to do that, but it's tough finding a car in the US as a base since anything in "driver condition" here is a $5K car. The cars for sale on the FB group are all in the UK.

I misread that, my bad.

I've been trying to find a reasonable one too, to no avail. There was a disassembled Austin America on CL here for a while for 1500, that's all I've seen.

And rally-x, yup I've read about that...
