Sorry to make this my first post, but in going through the January 2010 I came upon a rear 3/4 shot of a car that I just can't figure out and it's driving me nuts. It's on page 116 in the "Track & Field" article about the British Car Day in Dayton, Ohio. It is BRG with a yellow racing stripe parked between a TVR and a Jensen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was actually going to post this same exact question. At first I thought it might be a Ghibli, but it's way too small for that, right? Whatever it is, I want one. And the TVR next to it.

In reply to Inner Child: You and I think a lot alike :). I thought Ferrari Daytona, but the turn signals are all wrong. Some kind of pre Interceptor Jensen coupe they never exported, but google came up empty. Then I thought a de-bumpered Datsun, but it's just too delicate. Just when you think you know way too much about cars, something like this comes along...

I was going to ask the very same question. I think it's a Fiberfab Jamaican. Whatever it is, me likey!

Damn that dog sled team...

Thanks for confirming the January issue is in the mail.

It's a Jamaican. Google it and you'll see several photos. Giveaway is the shut line on the doors. It cants forward at the windowsill height.

I looked last night. Not sure if I was looking at the right picture, but it looked like a Ginetta to me.

Was it the coupe, with the small round brake lights?

Correction: I agree with Skunk. I think it's a Jamaican too. The rear lights are different, and the fuel filler is on the other side from the others I looked up, but otherwise, it's the same.

Since it's a kit, the brake lights are meaningless.

I've seen this car in person, and it has all triumph running gear. In fact, it was registered as a 1962 Triumph also. I agree that it looks like a Jamaican, but it didn't say that anywhere on it. Here's a couple more pics of it:

It's definitely a Fiberfab Jamaican body. The shape is unmistakable. Fiberfab advertised every month in Sports Car Graphic, Road & Track, and Car and Driver back in the mid '60s and the shape is etched in my mind. It's a very classy look for a kit car, except for the awkward headlight treatment. The shape is somewhat like a Monteverdi or Apollo GT. And I think GM Styling borrowed some of the Jamaican's design cues for the restyled 1970 Camaro.

Here's another Triumph-based Jamaican, but this one needs a little help: http://www.lemonfree.com/47438245.html

I've seen that car and know the seller well. If anyone happens to be interested in it, I'd be happy to go give it a once-over.

I've never seen one of these before. Is it a full body replacement or add on parts? Did they start with a Spitfire or is it based on a GT6?

inquiring minds want to know

thanks mike

It's a whole body kit, and Fibrefab made them for a bunch of different platforms. The guy I mentioned in my previous post has another Jamaican on a Corvette chassis.

They made Jamaican bodies for MG, TR, Healey and VW chassis as well as for frames they built.

For more info see my page at http://www.rhodo.citymax.com/Jamaican.html

This is my MGA based Jamaican (very original in appearance, if not in engine).
