The Monterey Historics are coming soon. Anybody got big plans? Who's coming to our Kickoff Party at Baja Cantina?

Discuss your plans for the week here. Who knows, we might want to tag along.

The CMS team will be out there in full force. I'll be out there, along with Tim, David, Andy, Steve, and Gary.

The Baja Cantina party on Thursday is a can't-miss. Where else can you get up close and personal with such incredible machines....for free! ( $7.25 mil Cobra Daytona Coupe was there last year! )

We will be at Mazda Raceway-- Laguna Seca on Friday- Sun. We will also have guys at the Quail, Concorso Italiano, and of course the auctions in the evenings. We will also be on the field at Pebble on Sunday morning, before heading back to the track. Even if you aren't a car show kinda guy, Pebble is absolutely worth a look. Stunning machines in an impossibly beautiful setting. Rubbing elbows with the famous folks is kinda fun too. ( I met the late Phil Hill there, Leno is always there....Patrick Dempsey...etc.....etc.)

If you haven't been before, put the Monterey Historics week on your calendar. (Mid August) It is an incredible, surreal experience. Where else can you see C-Type Jags running around on the street?! Last year we were stuck in traffic with a Ferrari F50! For the car lover, Monterey is sensory overload!

Monterey for me starts Monday with driving to the event. i will be at the Carmel Concours on the Avenue Tuesday. Later that afternoon I try to stop by the automobilia show in Seaside.

Wednesday and Thursday I am running around like mad from one auction preview to the next, there are 5 this year. I may look busy but be sure to say hi if you see me.

Later that night I will be at Baja and then at Russo for the first day of their sale. David and I will be at the Quail Motorsports Gathering Friday until noon and then will be at Concoroso to help Tim with Judging. We will also be Judging at Concours d' Lemons Saturday.

I will be at all the auctions from Thursday night on. I am usually at the front row or very near it on the left of the stage at RM or am in the staging area.

At Russo I will be in the pit especially when my 1968 Fiat is on the block there.

At Bonhams I am in one of the first two rows and will be bidding.

At Pebble Beach on Sunday I will be up before dawn with the rest of the dawn patrol which makes for a very long day after a long Saturday night at RM and Russo and Steele.

If you see a car that you are interested in buying, seek me out and I can give you a fast appraisal.

We're planning to drive down on Friday (so we're going to miss the kick-off party, sorry) and somehow work out how to be in several places at the same time.

I guess purchasing some tickets actually might be a good idea, given that I've arranged everything else (accommodation, time off etc).

I better stay away from the auctions though as we should have the house we're eyeing by then and it's got tons of garage space.

Auctions can be a fun way to see some amazing cars up close and see people spend too much on a Triumph Mayflower. RM has one.
