.007 Seconds.

That's how much I lost by today, to our very own Curmudgeon. What a freaking BLAST!!

I had first run and set the benchmark. Mr. C promptly bumped it up a little. Then I did. For 6 runs we swapped the lead till he coned his next to the last run. I had a chance then but just couldn't quite pull it out of the hole. .007 seconds. That can be an eternity when you are in second place.

That was the most fun I've had at an autocross in years and the most fun I've ever had losing.

I blame my 2 year old tires against his new ones.

I was going to have all kinds of video from the new GoPro. Then I got home and realized I apparently don't know how the use the damn thing. I got 34 seconds of me pulling up to the start line.

Congrats! The best autocrosses are always when you've got someone running the same times. It's even better in the same class.

As for the GoPro, I labeled the buttons on mine so I wouldn't screw it up.

In other news, I got about 9" of snow today.

0.007 is a close one, maybe next event the positions will be reversed.

I once raced against a coworker in the same V8 Miata. We had an absolute blast. I think our margin was 0.3 seconds though, traded back and forth.

I've lost a lot of video to the GoPro interface. They're frustrating little things.

I ran in the Canadian national autocross championship years ago and tied for the overall win in H-stock, right to the thousandth of a second.My opponent pulled out the tie on his very last run.

To me the big problem with the GoPro interface is the input lag, the arch-enemy of the impatient person.

Two events ago I lost by .248. Last event I won by .301. Second and third were .061 apart. We regularly swap the lead run after run. It's a hell of a good time.

You guys need Gopro 3's with the remote viewing on your phone. You use the phone as the viewfinder and then hit record/stop on the phone as well. Way more user friendly.

Good question. We've already had two autocrosses in CFR and the weather for the January event (the only only of the two I went to) was picture perfect, with temps in the mid-70's. In fact it's 73 degrees right now at 7:10 PM. Here's my video from the January event:

That's the best kind of racing. Winning by a lot can be kinda boring, but fighting for every last thousandth makes for very exciting races. It also pushes you to be a better driver :)

Curmudgeon drives a E-Mod Jensen commonly known as the Jensenator. Built by him using a Jensen body, 13b rotary and assorted other crap found in his shop.

I got the GoPro 3, but haven't set it up on the phone. Good idea though. I'd have to build a phone mount for the car, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Saturday we did a novice school, it was 65 and sunny. Sunday was the autocross, it was 68 and sunny. Beautiful weather.

It's been raining ever since. Literally.

About the only month we don't run is August. It's just too damn hot.
