Timing belt issue of some kind. Interference engine, or no? Thanks.
Interference. Bad engine in general. An Opel design only used in Cadillac Catera, Saturn L-Series (the larger car) and the '02 and '03 Vue. For '04-'07 the Vue went to a Honda 3.5L which is a good engine with a bad (fussy) trans.
Finding quality replacement engines for the 3.0L is difficult (overall troublesome engine.)
Swap to 3.5L is not reasonably cost possible considering the need for different trans and ecu, tcu.
Here is the link to the GRM Saturn Vue Primer.
The short answer is stay away from the 3.0L or any 4cyl with the self-grenading CVT trans.
4cyl with manual trans is the one to have and buy cheap.
Yeah, acquaintances of mine. Not the same ones I was asking about before. Timing belt failed; I was just hoping I could tell them the heads weren't lunched, but they probably are.
Thanks for the prompt replies!
I see a lot of them with drive train issues. I keep wondering if they would fit on a small Blazer chassis after the Blazer body rots away.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it now has a $400 value.
Finding a JY Vue is very easy considering all the bad CVT trans/4cyls out there and the blow 3.0L engines so supply exceeds demand for used units.
But, finding a working 3.0L will be tough though.
