So my neighbor asked me if I knew what was wrong with the ABS on his Tahoe. Basically, when turning while braking (into the driveway for example), the ABS goes off. It doesn't do it all the time. He tells me it started doing it during the winter.

I have a feeling it's a sensor acting up, but does anyone have any insight on this?

Probably one of the front sensor wires is cracked almost through. Tell him to fix it or pull the fuse, before he drives through the front wall of his house- I've seen it happen. Those GM trucks are terrifying when they get stupid.

Really common on those, corroded wire or computer on the fritz.

pull the fuse and remove the bulb... or put in a blown fuse and put in a blown bulb just in case there is an accident and the insurance guy/prosecuting attorney wants to know why the ABS didn't work...

very common for rust to build up between the sensor and hub, if and i mean if, you can get the sensor out of the hub you can scuff the rust off and reinstall the sensor, 8 out of 10 times this takes care of the symptom you describe.

Sometimes it is caused by a bad bearing/hub allowing the sensor to move too far away from the ring. This can happen when turning or suspension flexing.
