A friend is looking at selling her 02 Zx2. Who has experience with them?
I'm considering it as it gets 7-8mpg better than my Aurora and it would be nice to be back in a manual trans.

Yes. Absolutely. Good gas mileage. Fun to drive. Cheap, reliable, available everywhere. Not a ton of aftermarket, but you can tweak it some to make it a great daily.
edit: just saw the price. How many miles? Generally, yes, that's a good price.
2000 would be a little more fair, but I'ma cheap ass. Oh wait... This is GRM. I paid 1000 for my 98 and feel I paid slightly over what I should have.
Sure, not a ton of aftermarket, but plenty of us have done quitea bit to increase performance and/or mileage.

Depends on where in the country. I had a tough time finding a ZX2 under $2k in Chicagoland, and again here in central Florida.

And they're dirty-dirt cheap...think the full set is like $250.
They're essentially a BG chassis Protege (great) with a Zetec (great) in a coupe body that is not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. $2,800 would get you a mint, low mileage one around here. I see decent drivers in the $1,400-$1,800 range usually.
The SR struts are just about non existant now. One nice thing with the ZX2 is that the Chassis/suspension is the same as the Protege. Also parts are often easier to find if you look for Escort coupe..
