Perhaps not "grassroots", but we discuss em all here right. Next year I am going to be in the market for a new car, one that I actually plan to keep for years and will require being financed. I've driven a string of cheap cars for the past several years, and while I don't mind them I'd like my next car to be something nicer.

I am mainly looking at 2 door, 2+2 coupes with V8s. Top of the list right now are the 2010 Camaro SS, and 5.0 Mustang.

Price range is low 20s

The Jaguar has caught my eye, 300hp from a 4.2l V8, classic beautiful shape, amazing interior and from what I've read quite reliable. A good friend of mine also happens to work at a Jaguar dealership so I would be buying from a trusted source.

Thoughts?

I mean that is...beautiful

Useful insight or tech to bring to this thread? Zero. Thoughts to bring to this thread. YEs, hell yes, double hell yes, please do and keep us informed of the highes and lows. My personal 5 year down the line has a three way tie between on of these, a 986S or late 996.

Every single person who has one in my circle of friends LOVES them. ~8X or so. The 4.2 is pretty bulletproof and they made so many of them that parts when needed are not terrible in cost.

XKR though I would avoid due to custom bits and bobs on the car. Depending on your budget the 09+'s are a little bit nicer, especially the interior center column. I have been told that the Sat Nav is not terrible but very slow. Deep down even though I really covet a Aston DB9 I know that the Jag is the better car in every single way in terms of livability and having driven both I would go Jag.

Forgot to add, they all have had good experiences with the coupes, the one convertible has had three or four issues with the roof, all covered under warranty but it took them some fiddling to get it to work correctly. Once fixed it stayed fixed though.

I would be getting the coupe if this happens

Yes. Do it.

That is all.

I still want an earlier XK8 coupe. I was actually looking at them on eBay and CraigsList earlier today. So hot.

Pretty to look at, but lack of a manual trans sours me. Prospect of fixing one makes me run away...

Hmmm looks like it may be a no-go, apparently even tho its equipped with child seat latches, the rear seats are just to small to actually install one.

In reply to Storz:

Solution is an XJR.

There is no possible way to get a child in the back of a XK. Even with no legs and no arms and maybe a missing torso.

Wait until they grow a bit and don't need kiddie seats. I often see 911's with kids in the back and our family SUV is a Mustang convertible. It's probably taking my wife and 3 12-13 year old girls to school as I type.

Earlier ones seem to be better looking, unlike the 2014 Kia Rondo which is better looking than the old one.

See?
