Wifes E36 M3box is leaking badly got the covers off and its so wet all over I've got no idea where it's really coming from.  Was going to do all 5 seals however i figured i'd start with the crank but the timing sprocket holes do not seem to be threaded...How the berkeley does one get this off?  While i've got you how does one get the cam pulleys off there some sort of hydraulic units.

I really hate this car every time i think i have a weekend to get stuff done something happens with it..

Just to ask.....are you 100% sure it's not spillage from the oil filler tube? I somehow always manage to spill or overflow it pouring too fast, and somehow that oil makes its way to some different places.  Mine is an 09 with 160k hard-driven miles.

Got the sprocket off. i said screw it and taped the holes in the sprocket for 8mm and then used a bar cross the two hole and the crank snout.  torqued up on them and it popped then slide free.

Now i find the crank seal was PUSHED out and rubbing on the sprocket back side....why???  Could this have been from flushing the system after the turbo puked?  do I do just the one seal or do i do all 5 seals...?  The whole underside is still dripping. I knew it was leaking but not this bad its cold and I'm sick (Flu-like symptoms) so i was going to just do an oil change but i only got out maybe 1.5 quarts so I tore into it.
