I picked up a 1970 Austin America over the weekend. It is a 1275CC motor that as I understand it, is desired for a Mini upgrade. Engine runs and manual transmission works good as well. I have plans for the body I am looking for an outlet other than CL or eVilbay to list it for sale. Any thoughts? I am thinking $600 or so for the complete engine and transmission.

Auto or manual? Autos were more common in AAs, than Minis. Auto blocks are different than manual blocks. They can be converted to manual, but you need to be damn good at drilling a long hole to the oil pump. A wandering drill bit can scrap a block.
That looks like a decent AA project, I'm not sure what motors are going for these days but back in like 05 I was picking up A+ 1275's off a guy who imported minis and parts for $300 a pop. If you get 600 for it let me know it might be time for me to sell off some spares. What are the plans for the body? Please say something motorcycle engine related!
It is a manual, sorry I didn't mention that, kinda of important. ahutson03 still working on power plant ideas, nothing set in stone yet. Thanks for the reply's.
the mini guys love the 1275 with manual trans - I believe they are hard to find? GLWS
Post it on either here, http://www.britishcarforum.com/bcf/content.php

It will sell fast at that price. Lots of mini guys trolling those sites.
I always thought the Austin American had a 1798.
A check of the Googles says no, its a 1275.
In reply to spitfirebill:
The Austin Landcrab had a 1798, that car looks like a big Austin America.
I'd post the engine/gearbox on the MiniMania site.

Mini Mania no longer offers free adverts.
I have a 1098cc from an Austin Princess that will fit a Mini I'd sell for half as much, but the remote shift trans isn't worth anything more than a stand for the engine.

Oh my... I'm trying to tell myself I don't need an engine for a car I haven't even received yet...
VTEC mod for the body? Always thought the Austin America would be a better platform for a VTEC install. Saw a mini with one and it is very tight and the mods to the VTEC drivetrain were extensive. More straight forward on a bigger AA platform.
I got an iforce V-8 we can shoe horn in that
you,ll have to sit in the backseat to drive it
Where are you located? Are you willing to pull and ship?
I am very interested in this engine, how can I contact you?
