ya'll are great. anybody who posted here before I posted this gets free coffee and doughnuts. meet me at the first rallycross within 8 hours of Williston Nd.
look for a slightly overweight 19 year old with a Stetson, cigar, and a big car.
Edit: first rallycross event in spring, there's one January fourth, but I can't make that one.

On topic: Imperial rallycrosser sounds like a riot!
Off topic: open a Roth IRA and max it out every year while you are young. A little saving now will grow to huge numbers in retirement.
make that 12 1/2 hours normal driving instead of 8

Is anyone else excited to see Miata suspension under a vintage hot rod? I'm not sure how this will work, but I really want to see it happen.
I've had evil ideas for a Track T roadster body dropped on a Miata rollerskate, maybe dress the 1.6L up as some sort of never-was DOHC-converted Model A engine screaming through ITBs and a lake pipe.
Yes please!!!!
Why have i not thought about that? In all the ways ive been mentally building a 27 track t locost.....
Op: is the imperial rb powered? 361/383?
Also, what carb?
As an old mopar guy, i approve of this entire idea. Except the 31 inch tires.
Needs 35s and a lift.
Welcome, and start some build threads! We love that E36 M3.
In reply to Nick_440 :
Yup, you’ll fit right in... welcome to the madhouse!
cookies are on the left, straight jackets on the right. Post pics when you get the yacht; cannot wait to see this!
Okay, having an Imperial without a 440 from a motorhome is literally illegal within the continental US and 3 territories so you should get on that.
Okay but seriously, with all the bashing and bumping you'll likely want serpentine belts and not V belts, and I know there's kits from Bulltear for the 360 V8, but im not sure about other engines. I'd be more concerned about how you control the body roll and sway- have to get tighter torson bars, definitely a good strut tower bar.
Also, when you're ripping up the drit track you gotta keep that supple interior, though we will understand if you have to mount an actual race seat.
There is a Green on Green on Green velour interior 78 Lincoln Continental on the local craigslist I have been eyeballing for the same purpose. 460, 3spd, 9in. 19ft long, 5250 lbs, 200hp... but i will likely end up in a p71 crown vic.
Bulltear only does amc 360, different than the mopar.
So, march and a dew others are options. With a b/rb 440 source should be a good option.
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
Isn't Bulltear's stuff for AMC 360's and not Mopar B/RB?
Also, rallycross Imperial is berking awesome.
weird cars are perfect for rallycross, someone here is running a w8 passat this season
It's just kind of an example, but later chryslers used it too and they're common in yards. They can be bolted to 727s too.
Also OP hasn't posted what engine hes got.
A 1965 Imperial would have had a 413, not a 440.
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
The imperial I'm currently looking at is in Dallas, since I'm in ND I haven't seen it yet, and the description on Craigslist sucks.
That said, seeing as it's a 61 I'm assuming it has the stock 413. There's no picture without the air filter on so Idk what carb it has. I think that if I get this I'll put a long tube cross ram on it.
I don't know what M3 you're talking about, but I'd love to drive one.
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
They front seat isn't in great shape, but I'm going to keep a plush bench or split bench in it.
In reply to MrChaos :
In all honesty a panther body makes more sense, but it doesn't have the land yacht cool factor, and that's all that matters.

town cars are similar money as p71's but with the luxury
In reply to MrChaos :
But they're too small for the land yacht coolness. Even if they are cool in other ways.

Chrysler never used the AMC 360. FSJs used it until '91, but that is it. The MoPar 360 has nothing in common with the AMC 360.
Also, the bellhousing bolt patterns between the small block MoPar, big block MoPar, and AMC 727s are all different.

I'm looking drooling over a 1965 imperial Crown sedan on craigslist,
Which year is it, 1961 or 1965.
In reply to stuart in mn :
I started this thread when I was looking for imperials for sale, I saw a 65 nearby, but I expanded my search because I prefer the older, exner designed ones. The one I'm thinking about buying is a 61 coupe.
