A friend of mine has a 69 Saab 96 sitting at his place that he'd like to get running. It has apparently sat up unused for several years, I don't know how long, parked conditioned, etc, etc.

Where does one go to find parts for those things?

He's not looking to rally it ( which is a damn shame in my eyes), just get it nice enough for a sunday cruise now and then.

Anybody got experience with these? I'm sure somebody here has an obsessive love affair with them....

My first car was a 1970 Saab 96 V4 Deluxe. First race car was a '68 Sonett V4. Pops owned and Saab parts and restoration business for several decades, and now his oldest son Mark runs the business. Lots of parts are still available for these cars, but most people want to spend chinese vw beetle parts type money on them, so we see a lot of projects never get finished.

That said, Mark has two Sonetts in the restoration shop currently, after a 95 Wagon left a few months back. Word as of this weekend was a third Sonett was getting shipped for a full mechanical job.
