I test drove one new. I am a big fan but dumping $140,000+ into one? Jay Leno says he himself is in the "more money than brains" club.
whoops - 1983

Holy crap, he's local.
I've driven over that bridge many times.
In his defense, it's $140,000 Canadian which is like $40.00 US.

That's my thought.
And only 220 horsepower? For 140 grand mine would have some fat fender flares, probably box flares, and would be all wheel drive with 400+ horsepower. With leather recaro seats from a GT3 or something.
While I wouldn't spend $140K on any car, I doubt he did either, but he did buy a lot of good quality stuff. A 1900 lbGTI with 200HP would be highly entertaining. Lapping faster than a Porsche Cayman is my idea of fun.
I'm just happy we are getting more data points where people are selling these beasts at big numbers. This goes a long way towards making me look sane as I explain to Mrs84FSP why I put so much time and money into ElRabbito...

Appreciate it sir.
I looked at the pic, read the caption about "bought in college" and thought "Holy smokes, I had one when I was 16 and that dude looks old AF."
Then I realized he probably bought it new.

He's an engineer. Of course that's factored in. In that case, I've owned several "million dollar cars", because my time is worth more than anything on this planet.
