Either the stop lights were 50' apart, or the Mustang GT a '79 Mustang II and was running on 3 cylinders...

Nah city blocks, driver may have had something to do with it. Looked like a bone stock late 90's GT. 2 people, the 'stang, They were starting to pull even/pass me when it was time to get on the binders for the next light. But they couldn't flat out leave me.
Edit: About the time I got into 3rd gear things were going their way, that better?
I owned a 95 SE and it was one of the funner vehicles I had owned. Was comfortable enough for several trips between MA & VA, handling very well, & the performance was enough to have some fun back in my days of questionable highway activities.
I had 116k on it & the timing belt went, as the parts sat in the back seat for the upcoming weekend. Took out 12 valves & a lot of money out of my than empty wallet. The brake master cylinder went on it & I just couldn't do it anymore. This was also 10 years ago & I was flat broke. I still yearn for a clean, stock one. I even saw my old car last summer & had it not started succumbing to rot I would've made an offer to buy it back.

Never underestimate the extreme underwhelmingness of a stockish 4.6 sn95. I had a lightly modded dodge intrepid that was faster than those, let alone any of my turbo junkboxes.
