Just found a T 100 with floor mounted lever for 4WD and advertised mileage of 171K.

I know T 100s are supposed to be long lived, but does anyone have experience with these trucks? And more importantly, in this combination.

I checked CarComplaints.Com and except for 1 owner reporting the automatic transmission overheating so that it prevented the use of overdrive until it cooled, no real serious problems with the V6 and automatic transmission.

I had well over 500K on a 3.4 5vz with the auto and 4wd under DD duty and off roading. Keep timing belts done along with general maintaince and your golden.

We had one new. V6, 5 speed, 4wd. Built a cabin with it hauling lots of stuff into the north woods up 1000' over 100 miles. My dad got rid of it after the lease agreement because he missed a V8 grunt. That's about all I remember about it.

Guy down the street from me has one. 6-7 years ago he helped me haul some stuff before I had a truck, and at the time I noticed he had well over 300k on that thing. Still see him driving it all the time, and it looks almost brand-new....

My first car was a 93 T100, manual, 2wd, regular cab, long bed. I had a blast in that thing in high school. It was fairly slow, being an almost full size with a v6, and I remember watching the gas gauge move whenever I put my foot to the floor, but it was fun. I never had any issues with it. It had close to 300k miles on it when I let a friend drive it, and he drove it into a tree...

After reading about all the sludging problems V6 Toyotas have, I wondered if this truck suffered from that problem.

This 23 year old truck also looks pretty spotless, almost like a 5 year old, except for the interior.  But I thought it might be a "trick" of CL photography.

In reply to Carsandbikes :

I don't think sludging was ever an issue on the VZ engines.  Just some of the 1MZs when neglected a bit.

I see them occasionally.  They seem to be about the same size as a new Tacoma, tiny compared with a Tundra.

Did they have the frame rust issues?

They are basically heavy duty tacomas. Same eng/trans combo options. like the 3.4 5vz, or the 2.7l 3rz. My taco has the 2.7, but I think those 5vz's need the timing belt or water pump done around 120-150k. Other than that, they're kindof tanks, if they're not grossly neglected. I cannot speak for rust issues, being from the southwest and california.

Trucks should never have timing belts.

Truck was sold before I could get to the dealership.  Somehow I missed seeing it on CL for a week, and being a screaming good deal (if the ad / and associated pictures were accurate) it got scooped up.

Story of my life.
