I have heard wonderful things about the AJ6 engine, but the AJ16 they say is hard to get parts for.
We have one abandoned at our shop - 59k, tight top, with many troubles. I can get it for a song but don't want a money pit. Any engine/tranny swaps that I could do? I know that SBCs fit nicely in the older jags... what is a common swap in the 91-96 jags?
Good points, bad points?

And I second the "track car" suggestion. The late 70's Trans Am Jags always tented my trousers.

That is magazine worthy...

That's a tasty bit of kit
If you can get it for a song, you could sell it to one of us for a song+, I'm sure.
For my sake, please make sure that song is outside of my vocal range.

XJSs, especially those with mods and/or fender flares, make me nurse a semi. One of my daydream cars is a lightly flared XJS with an LS1 and T56. SO hot, yet civilized

There's a few too many erection jokes in this thread .
A bloke I work with is currently shopping around for a V12 XJS. He plans to retain the Jag '12, but convert it to manual. He's priced out a complete kit using a T5 (I think), and it comes in close to $4K for the whole shebang.
The more GRM route is to use the W58 transmission from a Toyota Supra. However, I believe this requires a fair bit of fab work, including a custom bell housing if you're bolting it up to the Jag engine, (there is a company here in Australia who produces these, fwiw.)
I would still love a jag with a BMW drivetrain

needs more BRG/biscuit and maybe some box flares...
Sounds like the perfect car for an L33 swap in place of the AJ16, doesn't really matter which trans you use behind it. May have to cut the front springs a bit to account for the change in weight, maybe not.
