I hear the relay clicking if I set the stalk to operate them (left or right), but nothing if I use the hazard switch. Even tried a switch that was good when it came out of a totalled car. Of course, I cannot even remember which lights should blink when the turn signals are activated, but all of the lights except the outer rear lights seem to work when the headlights switch is on. So, I need to know which lights should flash, so that I can check to make sure they aren't blown (the likelyhood of all being blown simultaneously seems low, but who knows), and then start tracing for a rodent chewed wire. Ugh, I hate electrical issues.

You might have an easier problem than a severed wire, check your flasher relay first. I had a 96' with turn signals that only worked on one side and it turns out the solder joints in the flasher relay had broken apart.

Sounds as if you may have ruled this stuff out, but I have these if you find that you need them:

+1

the signals in my 90 went wonky then went out altogether. I pulled the flasher relay and found a solder joint with a faint black ring, which was a crack. I flowed a little more solder on the board and everything works like new. The Miata.net write up tells you everything you need to know for this project.

Was the flasher relay "clicking" when you turned the signals on? I have tried swapping another into it, they both give the characteristic clicking sound, I pulled one apart and didn't see any bad solder joints, I guess I'll pull #2 apart next.

Can anyone tell me which lights should actually blink on the outside of the car?

My flasher was clicking at a much faster than usual rate, but the signals were not flashing. The lights that should be flashing are the amber lights in the rear and the combination parking/turn signals under the headlight doors. When my relay failed, the green arrow indicator in the instrument cluster also failed to illuminate. When my relay failed, it only took out one side of the turn signals. Did both sides fail at once?

I don't know fi it was the same time or not. Clicking seems to be at a normal speed, no flashing lights on dash.

I sold my first Miata, and my wonderful wife bought it back for me with a blown HG. Fixed the HG, want to go and title it at the DMV, but I want it streetable first, which means working turn signals.

I had to put new headlight connectors in already, they had lost their ground, and melted nicely. Also, the front driver's side turn parking light had been rodent chewed, I had to fix the ground wire, so now it lights up with the other lights, but no turn signals.
