What a hoot. And all those things I've read about for so many years are true - look ahead, slow down to go faster, etc... Shout out to the Sierra Sports Car Club in Sierra Vista, AZ, great group of guys and gals.
10 runs too (5 "official", 5 "fun"), it felt like a good number of runs.
I may need to change my name to "CD" - the first couple runs I had "course deviation(s)". Did pretty well for the remainder though.
The other thing that also appears to be true is that Miata is the answer - for all of the hot rod hardware out there, Miatas were among the fastest times of the day. Nearly none of them had motor mods of any sort, so it wasn't horsepower making the times....
Quote of the day: "It looks like a Miata convention out here."
Yup! All true, glad you enjoyed it!
Also, if you think the Miata are bad, wait until the Frisby's start catching up. They are already pretty thick on the ground here in the PNW at the local AutoX scene, not too mention track days, etc.
Welcome to the adrenaline addiction that's kept me coming back for 32 years.
There were a couple of Frisbys out there, both with capable drivers - very quick.
I had to look up l'chaim - "literally, to life" - I love this, fits perfect.
This is going to be fun...
Sigh. I haven't dodged a cone since the summer of 2011. I'm jonesing. Hard.
Very true, glad you enjoyed it. I can tell you from experience, the "course deviations" may lessen, but they still occur. BTDT, a few times more than I care to admit.
Cool, glad you went and had fun.
Just wait until you go road racing Autocrossing is certainly the way to start, you can push the car all the way without hitting anything.
I got bit last year by the autox bug. Welcome to the club.

Me neither. I put on my helmet and make racing noises sometimes- kid got in the way.
I participated in one and only one autocross last year in my new-to-me car:
This was after 5 years away from autocrossing and 3 from racing in general. I gotta say I missed it and I'm looking forward to this spring when I can get out on course again!
