Good idea? Bad idea? It's got a 20R if that makes a difference.

What's the aftermarket parts situation like on these?

Basically, a late liftback has turned up not too far from here and I'm going to have a look at it this afternoon. The description sounds more like it's a survivor but that'd be fine in my book.

IOW it's cheap enough to throw some cash at it without breaking the bank.

They are gorgeous. Please do it...but please don't stuff it in a wall...

I'm seriously trying to avoid stuffing it into anything...

Oh, and does anybody know if you can retrofit the earlier bumpers to the RA28 in order to get rid of the railroad ties that are pretending to be bumpers on these?

Also, can anybody recommend a good forum for these and potentially a good source of spare parts?

Well, just back from looking at it. Seller has a proper shop in the back filled with cool stuff and just has too many projects...

It's not 100% rust free but it's pretty clean and most of the rust looks like surface rust. Needs a paint job badly, though. Interior is pretty shot but I'd probably end up ripping out most of it, stick some good bucket seats in there and a roll bar...

Mechanically the 20R sounds fine, the Weber carb needs setting up (it's running rich, starts without choke and all that), probably wants a header and definitely an exhaust, given that most of it is missing...

Current potential dealbreaker is the condition of the windshield (multiple cracks) but the seller was kind enough to call the guy who did the windshield on some of his other cars. Should hear back tomorrow if it's still available and how much...

As long as you're not expecting a whole lot of handling or power I'm sure you'll be happy. The 20R has the double row timing chain (I think) so you avoid the timing chain / guide / cover hand wringing we get to do in the 22RE set. Photos?

Also, are we talking rollcage here? ~35 yr. old cars and high-speed collisions don't mix.

If I get it it'll still be mainly a road car so we'll just put a rollbar with a harness bar in. Don't really want a full cage in a road car...

I found some nice parts that should help with the handling, obviously I am not expecting Miata levels of handling but for learning the ropes it'll hopefully do...

No photos yet, unfortunately.
