A friend is asking me if this is a good car, and I've honestly never considered one for anything and know nothing about it, especially the first generation. Anybody know about it?

Mitsubishi platform, lackluster reviews from what I've heard. The second generation cars are more better.
Not saying it is a bad car, but minimal Volvo DNA.
I want to like them and can't. We didn't even get manual transmissions in the things.
