Okay, count with us here: How many cars can do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, circle around a Formula 1 track faster than just about anything other than a full-spec race car, carry four people in true luxury, and cost well under $50,000?

None, right? The all-new BMW M5 meets all those qualifications except one, since it costs more than half …

Great review, easy to read, interesting to read, from what I understood e46m3 is way better than regular e36m3 and tiny bit behind on track comparing to e36Lightweight Paul version?

You are so lucky that you can have one for ~$10K, ironically, in "developing" countries like Ukraine we must pay tons of taxes just to bring car in and make it legal to ride inside, do not want to complain but it would cost $22grands and you do not know in what condition she would arrive eventually

In European Union countries there is no e46 m3 for less than $25 grands, but I know people that searched for e46m3 for years, they only had a chance to review 3-4 cars and they were in poor condition and owners were asking 25+) so they ended up with new M4 or something like that

In plans is to make from my regular e46Ci custom with modern bmw inline6 turbo engine for 340-370HP and sport suspension and brakes, all newer for 10G,
GRM, if project performed well - can she have success in material value? For example how difficult it would be to sell full custom vs genuine m3? Any thoughts?

Hi Mykola, note that post you're replying to is from six years ago, and it was a reprint of an article published in GRM twenty years ago ;)

In this country, the E46 M3 has become a "collector's car" and has been gaining value.  A few years ago a nice E46 M3 might cost $15,000, but today low mileage cars are in the $35,000-$50,000 range.  M3s with no modifications have the most value.

An E46 coupe with an engine swap will appeal to a small audience and would be more difficult to sell than a stock car.  Engine swaps are often complex and costly, so most enthusiast owners perform swaps to get the most enjoyment from their own car; few swapped cars can sold here for a profit.
