A frend of mine recently bought a 2002 Mini in real great condition. He decided to change oil and put the car up on a set of ramps. He cannot get the oil pan plug out. He actually broke a Snap On socket trying. He tried a box wrench and could not break the plug loose. Fearing he would break somethink or ruin the oil pan he stopped. This guy is not a wimp and knows cars. He has a 52 Chevy pickup he has restored and also is in the process of restoring a MG-D. Any ideas for getting it loose?

Sometimes the f'in dealer puts the damn thing in too tight and its difficult to break loose. Order another drain plug in case you break that one and have at it.

Hopefully it won't kill the pan but you never know. Maybe hit it with some PB Blaster and let it work in before the next attempt.

Heat it up and tap it lightly.

Might be a good time to use some acetone and diesel mix.
