One of my coworkers has decided to pull the trigger on a supercharger for his GTO. Magnussen and Procharger are in the running at the moment.
As the resident gearhead, he asked me which I prefer, and I immediately said "Turbo!" but I dont think that is in the cards.
So which one would you guys prefer, and why?
The supercharged GTO that I walked around one morning later blew up on the race track. Sorry, I don't know which one it was. So, I guess I'm sayin': which one has a better reputation for not grenading the motor?

They use the Magnuson.
does he know about the STS remote turbo systems?
most guys who supercharged their TBSS (same LS2) seem to go with the magnuson.
My understanding of superchargers is that positive displacement units add mid-range, where centris add top end. What does this particular Goat lack relative to the current owner's desires?
He used to have a supercharged TPI Camaro and has money to burn :) Basically it doesnt shred the tires as much as he wants, and he wants simple bolt-ons with daily driver reliability.
Has he considered the inverse? Crappy tires will shred nicely with a lower investment and overall increase in DD reliability ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
He already has crappy tires.
This guy wants a hit it, goes bang (in a good way) sort of a car.

The ProCharger has all of the characteristics of a huge turbo (no low end, poor mid-range, lots on top) with none of the response (belt/gear driven off of the crank so no boost until after peak torque).
Has anyone come out with a Whipple for those things yet? From back when I was researching superchargers for LS motors the Magnuson was lots of heat for moderate power. Whipple destroyed it in every way.

STS x2, I mean, the turbo is the muffler ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)
