I would like to purchase a mini cooper s coupe with a man. trans. But I went to consumer complaints website and saw bunches of complaints by other owners. mini forums praise these vehicles, but now I am confused. I know what I want, but don't know if they are reliable enough to use as a daily driver. My brother wants a Range Rover and he read just as many bad things about those also. This suck! Can a real person tell me something to sway me on the decision to purchase both of these vehicles or to look for something else. PLEASE HELP!!! With love, Ray

Mini=reliable enough. Range Rover=not.

Cars are exceptionally reliable these days, so when a car has a few more issues than normal, they tend to stand out. This is basically the situation with the MINI. I'll concede they have occasional issues, but rarely do they prevent them from getting you anywhere.

OK, I neither own one nor am a mechanic, so I couldn't post on your other thread...
...but one thought is that if you are able to buy a 2007, there are some pretty good incentives out there which put new ones almost into the same range.
Just a thought...
SVreX is right. I was about a half heartbeat from buying an 07 MCS about a week ago, but the high cost of entry really stopped me. They're pretty expensive used IMO - the 51k mile example I was looking at? $16k firm. $16k buys a whole lot of used car nowadays if you look at any other model.

yea, I hear you on the 16K issue, but, my budget is 18K, and my wife, of all people, wants one really bad, kind of think of it, I wish I was the car. But, I need to know if the reliability is really going to be there, especially on the electronics and the trans. But thanks for all the advice.
